HWHELL.com Award "Silver"
HardwareHell |
Hot off the back of a coveted HwHell.com Gold Award for their all-conquering Ninja heatsink, Scythe line up with their next cooler for this demanding reviewer to analyse – the Samurai Z.
The Samurai Z is an entirely different beast to the previously reviewed Ninja. It arrived in a low profile box, less than half the height of that of the Ninja’s. The package also includes a 92mm fan – something the Ninja was lacking, although Scythe includes a 120mm fan with the revised “Ninja Plus” model....... |

Silent PC Review
|
| The Samurai Z is the sequel to Scythe's Samurai. Scythe has come a long way since the original Samurai was released, having conquered a large portion of the high end market with models like the Ninja and the Shogun. Given the fierce competition, it's no surprise that the original Samurai has been upgraded. The Ninja may lead the way, but it cannot win the battle for market share alone. A reasonably priced midrange model is a necessity, and what better a model than a new and improved Samurai Z? ... |

Mad Shirimps |
Scythe’s Samurai series of heatsinks has been with us for some time now, we reviewed one (SCSM-1000) back in May of 2004, the new version comes with a “Z” tag, 92mm fan and heat pipes joined in a copper base.
While I couldn’t find a price on the latest one, the previous SCSM-2000 (which is a revision of the SCSM-1000) can be had for €25-30, it’s half the price of Scythe high performance “Shogun”. ..... |

| While the Scythe Samurai Z is not a highest-performance overclocker's cooler, I must say I still love it. The installation is very easy, does not require any tools and can be completed in a few seconds.
With support for Socket 478, 775, 754, 939 and 940 the compatibility could be called universal. I also like that mounting kits for all these platforms are included, other manufacturers will make you pay extra for that...... |

| Heatsinks have changed dramatically in the last few years, with heatpipe technology coming to the forefront of high performance heatsinks. The focus has shifted slightly, with a large emphasis going towards ease of install, and silence. Lately, more and more mid range heatsinks have also begun to incorporate heatpipes, and today we will see Scythe's version of a midrange heatpipe cooling, along with its patent pending tool free installation. ...... |
