OFCS – Oval Fin Contact Structure
Introducing the newly developed OFCS (Oval Fin Contact Structure) achieves the greater contact area between the cooling fins and heatpipes, which make less heat transfer loss. Furthermore, by adopting the sloping fin mounting to reduce the overall volume combined with the ability to extend the airflow to various motherboard components simultaneously while cooling the CPU.
VFMS - Versatile Fan Mounting System / 100mm Fan
By adapting the VFMS fan mounting system from one of the Scythe’s popular "Mine CPU Cooler", the default fan (100x100x25mm) can be easily exchanged to another sized fan with 25mm of thickness. (Some fans with non-standard structures may not be mounted properly.)
4-Way Mounting
4 way (direction) mounting is available. This allows you to configure the optimized airflow direction inside your chassis without any restrictions.
Universal Socket Compatibility with AM2
Katana 2 CPU Cooler is compatible for socket 478/754/939/940/AM2 & LGA775. All in one solution for your PC system.

HardwareLogic |
| Scythe Co., Ltd. began in Japan in 2002, eventually moving forward and landing in the U.S. in 2004. They set their sights on the Do-It -ourself (DIY) crowd, striving to pump out high performing coolers that are also extremely quiet. As a new dog on the street back then, they introduced the Kamikaze CPU Cooler that earned them geek-cred in the cooling community. Jump to today, and they are clearly no longer one of the new dogs. Since the Kamikaze, they have produced many quiet coolers that have respectable thermal cooling performance....... |

| Believe it or not, it has been just over three years since the last review of a Scythe CPU heatsink! Back then, Scythe had some great products in their Heatlane and Kama coolers. Today we actually have three new heatsinks for review. That’s right! We are doing a three way Scythe CPU cooler roundup! If you are not familiar with Scythe, here is a little history from their website: ...... |

Red & Blackness |
| A
CPU coolers come in all shapes and sizes, many with very intricate designs. However, sometimes a computer doesn’t need a fancy cooling setup when a simpler yet effective solution might do. CrazyPC, a great online retailer of a variety of computer parts, sent us a sample of one of their popular CPU coolers, the Scythe Katana II CPU Cooler, which has a simple design package but promises respectable cooling performance nonetheless. Will simplicity rule the day? We will attempt to answer that question in this review........ |

Frosty Tech |
| The Scythe Katana II heatsink boasts four rather unique technologies to its name; OFCS, VFMS, wide range RPM, and four way mounting. The first of these acronyms essentially describes how the copper heat pipe comes in contact with the aluminum fins of the heatsink. Oval Fin Contact Structure (OFCS) increases the surface area between the aluminum fins and heat pipes by a small degree, which apparently improves heat transfer. Additionally, the slanted orientation of the fins reduces the overall volume of the heatsink, and works to direct exhaust airflow down towards adjacent motherboard components. ...... |

| If you have followed the short history of Scythe here in the US, you will have realized by now that they are frequently updating previously released coolers. We have seen them revamp the likes of the Ninja and the Samurai. This metamorphosis has occured three times with the aforementioned cooler. Each and every revision has been for the better, whether it is providing attachments for a new socket or for better overall performance....... |
